| So my pool ended and I finished 2nd. A lot of my success was due to Carcillo and his pim with the occasional goal. Now I'm still pretty new at hockey pools(only my second year) so for next years draft when should a PIM guy like that be drafted? He proved very valuable this year and is sure to be on the other guys' radar. I know I don't want to overbid but I don't want to miss out either. Thoughts? |

I would say depending on how important PIM's are depends on where they get drafted...
with that said I still believe those type of guys are late/middle to late rounds
I don't think they are on the top of many ppl's draft lists |

Sure, Carcillo is a valuable PIM guy but I wouldn't go into your draft with getting him weighing heavy on your mind. He kind of came in "out of the blue", although his 74 PIM's in 18 games last year were an indication of things to come. Another "PIM guy" might do the same next year.
Evaluate your pool categories and make your selections accordingly.
Prepare. Go into your draft with a ranked list of players. If Carcillo is next on your list and he's still available- grab him.
Otherwise, select an established "PIM guy". Or take a chance and pick another player that might "come out of the blue" and get you your PIM's.
Good luck! |

| I agree with the statements above. I drafted Neil this year as the next player on my list, not because he was good for PIM's. At his draft slot i felt he was the best player overall that would give me some points and his PIM's were a bonus...until he got hurt. Unless you have a weird setup in your league that makes PIM's top heavy, draft accordingly. I like a guy that will get me a few points and PIMs when it comes to that catergory. In one league i took Clarkson from NJ with a late season pickup. I knew he might get me a few points along the way, not kill my +/- and get me a few PIMS. I could've grabbed a goon, but chose to help my team out overall. Look carefully at your team and settings and chose accordingly. |
