I don't recall what I've seen as the most expensive piece of A&C furniture on eBay, but by the time this one finishes, this could be it....

click> GUS CABINET

This seller always has some of the most choice items available. Has anybody ever dealt with them before? Just curious really. I always wonder how it is that they happen to have so many fantastic items, even for a dealer.

I have never been able to decide if I like this form or not. I always thought the doors needed some hardware, maybe not full strap hardware but instead the early hammered butt hinges. Just when I'm ready to dismiss this model, I look again and kind of like it. 7+ years and I still can't decide.

A decent example of this form sold at Christies within the last year for about $8,000 to $10,000 plus premium. That was a pretty decent price considering Treadway has gotten upper teens and low twenties plus premium.

The same seller also has a buffet but some idiot removed the doors. Shocked They can probably be recreated. Both pieces were from a summer house that did not get used much. Therefore, both of these are in pretty good shape--except for the missing doors.

When ever I have asked the sellers a question, they have been very kind and replied quickly. Most of their stuff goes way beyond my budget but I do enjoy watching their auctions. I often put in an early, low bid and get blown out of the water quite quickly. I keep hoping that no one else will notice the item, and maybe my bid will actually win. AH, well, hope springs eternal for the collector with a budget.

Both pieces will go very high. I can't even imagine what the final price will be at the end of the auction.

Bev.

US $19,977.50 / Reserve not met

So what was the reserve? 20,000?

How someone can bid in the multi thousands without seeing and examining the piece is amazing. I would think at this price range it would be worth it to the seller to have an independent condition appraisel and make this available. On the other hand, it's rare, the pictures are good, the seller has a good reputation (I assume), and there's competition for high end Gus, so go for it!
