Everyone likes a juicy scandal, don't they? This is maybe a bit off-topic, or more specifically: off-period, but since things are quiet on the forum here's some fun reading.
A major scandal has hit the 'high end' antiques market, in England and to a degree over here. A very prominent dealer, John Hobbs, has been accused by his long-time restorer of selling made-up fakes as original pieces; mainly late 18th to early 19th century stuff. Here's a bunch of links that cover the news and some of the fall-out, plus check out the dealer's website to get an idea of what he sells. Interestingly, when I first read about this and checked out his site, all the section links were down but are now back up - cleaning house perhaps.
