Downloads Aren't Working

First off, hello from an old friend!

Second, I just got a new computer and installed all my games and transferred all my downloads. However, this computer doesn't recognize any of the file types, regardless if they are old dowloads of new ones. Is it just cause I have a new computer or what?

Help is greatly appreciated!!

What do you mean your computer won't recognize the file types?

Does your download folder not have them listed as .packages?

How did you transfer them between computers?
(so many questions! )

All other things being equal, I would guess that you transferred your downloads before you re-installed your game. That would cause a little confusion for the computer.
If you've got your downloads on disk, I would recommend re-installing them.
Hm, I just had a thought (first time for everything...). Did you uninstall your game on your old PC before you saved your folders?

Actually, with a little aspiration, I fixed the problem myself. I just right clicked the file and hit open with paint and they all switched so the icons had paint symblos on them.

So now all my downloads work.

And here's how I did that;;

I installed every single Sims 2 and expansion pack onto my new computer.

On my old computer I seperated the copy ofmy 1 gb downloads folder into 6 seperate folder housing around 240-256 mb each. I then took the time with (2) 256 mb jump drives and transferred them by running up and down and up and down my stairs. ((Six trips)) A little click and drag, some effort, and at least an hour;; and I have the sims running like it always did.

Glad that your problem was simple!

I transferred mine pretty much the same way. Luckily, I had a 1 GB jump drive (of course, had I bought it 3 months later, it would have cost half as much ).

Dang a 1 gb would have helped! Oh well;; can't say I didn't mind the excercise!
