About three years ago I bought a second Steyr rifle that was in a basket. The rifle had some unknown barrel on it that was sleaved at the breach so that it could fit the larger hole of the Steyr Match barrels. I had a second 10 Meter Steyr barrel that I had purchased to use in case my primary barrel got damaged in any way. It was fitted right in and after it was tuned, the groups it produced, were smaller than its test target. Its only the start, but some testing showed me that I could use JSB 4.51's in a pinch, but it loves 4.53's. It hasn't been tuned for the higher velocities and slightly heavier pellets, but it is entirely possible for the tuning process to get both pellets shooting equally, or even get the 4.51's shooting even a little bit better than the 4.53's. Time will tell. One thing is for certain, the 4.52's didn't group as well and turned out to be 10 fpe slower than the other pellets. I have not tried the 4.50's at speed yet, but they also looked promising when shot at 10 meter velocities. Take care. _________________ Keyrigger

Here it is in its very raw form. The riser is from the first year of shooting
and the scope is my Deben Hi Mag (mothballed while I have the S&B). I
intend to add a few items, but I won't duplicate the full powered rifle, well,
for the forseeable future.

Lol, in fact, this rifle has gained about 7 fpe from its original setting. This rifle was a 10 Meter rifle. The regulator has been reset and so has the valve striker. The original pressure in the firing chamber was 870 psi and afterwards, it is now 1160 psi. What I really respect about the designer of this regulator is that I set it the day I got the tester pur together and it never shifted until I reset it, yesterday. When I went and checked the web site for any differences in the versions, only the 24 j rifle has any parts (aside from the barrel) that are different from the 10 Meter gun. I hope to get out and start the process of finding the best pellets (and those that can be used for practice and plinking) this week, but weather is going to be the big factor. Take care. _________________ Keyrigger

Here is a picture so you can see what the differences are at the present
time. I hope to have both rifles, aside from the butt hook, pretty much
the same sometime this spring or summer, depending on availability of
parts and those who make them.

Are you planning to set it at full power or sub 12fpe Don?
Might be nice to have a one of your Steyr's ready for a World Championship! _________________ Canadian Airgun Field Target Association (CAFTA)
