I finally got around to an update of the old forum list. There are seven additions and one 'lost but now found picture' (LJG clock). After the December Treadway sale, there might be another Greene and Greene chair to add.

I love that Frank Lloyd Wright 9 drawer chest of drawers that sold for $164,800. Serenity overcomes me whenever I look at it.

Two more added - Byrdcliffe chiffonier and Greene and Greene table-bench. I think there should also be a Gus (Ellis/Lamont Warner design) settle in the mid 100,000 range but I can't find a pic or the exact selling price, from a Christie's sale in 1999.

Stonecat - thanks for updating. This is one of my favorite posts that I would visit on the old site over and over. The picture you posted for the L&JG clock isn't the right form. I can't find the March 2001 catalog, however it is the same form as lot 59 in the September 2004 sale.

Maybe we have to email Jerry C. to confirm???

The picture I posted is lot 19 from March 2001 - I have the catalog - here's the expanded view (and there are no other LJG tall case clocks from this sale):

Unfortunately, Rago's site doesn't archive back as far as this sale and the prices realized that Jerry C. sent out with his old catalog collection, that he sold on eBay, don't go past the first sale in 2001. This sale is right in the gap! I also have the May 2001 catalog and checked it, but no LJG tall case (unless I missed it). I believe you found the price and date from a check of the Maine Antiques Digest - maybe there's a slip up there; maybe a typo even?

The other example is this one, shown in Rago's 2005 book, which looks similar to the one from 2004, except for the face:

The second picture is the correct one. It should have been lot 116 from the January 2001 Rago sale (sold for $280,000+ premium). I'm pretty certain I posted the wrong sale date on the old forum.

Bingo, fixed, with original catalog pic. Premium was 15% so total price was $322,000. It's interesting that the estimate quoted in the catalog was $50,000 to $60,000, and in Rago's 2005 book is still $60,000 +, despite that it sold for much more a few years earlier. I wonder what would happen if this came up for sale again?

Somewhere on the web an article is posted about the sale of the clock and lots of accusations flying back and forth regarding its condition. It has been a few years since I've seen it, however if you can track it down, it is worth the read.

I didn't put this in but the catalog note did say "repair to front right foot" and that the picture was before the repair.

updates

361,000 Gus gothic bookcase

181,000 Roycroft Cellarette - the only piece of Roycroft to actually make it to the list

These were both in a Sotheby's sale in 2007. I had a nagging feeling we were missing something like both of these.

On another forum I frequent people often say, "Pics or it never happened." Laughing
