Rats, I knew I should have bid $3500, LOL. I wonder how high Jerry's proxy was??? Rare case, not in the catalog I think; similar to a Gus Harvey Ellis.

Indeed, a very nice piece. I really like the multiple arches. It seems like it would have gone higher given it's condition - although it is a bit small compared to many other china cabinets. Better luck next time, Stonecat.

Ironically, it was sold in East Aurora, NY the home of the Roycrofters. In this case (no pun intended) I think small is good because it's a very efficient use of space without mullions in the door. It would be an awesome display case for a collection of metal, pots etc.

Is it me, or is the condition strike anybody as a bit too good. At first glance it looks like a reproduction with the light finish, crisp edges, minimal wear. Even the plywood back with the label looks perfect. It is hard to tell from the photos if the glass is old or new, but it looks new. One side looks like it has silicone caulking applied in the glass joint at the bottom.

Maybe he plans to take delivery in person and make payment after he looks it over first.

Or maybe he is one of those people where 3K just isn't a significant amount of money to him and he doesn't care about any risk...

I would have no qualms using this case for part of our collection. Forgive my ignorance... This appears to be an Ellis designed piece for Stickley.

At first glance that was my impression as well but now I'm thinking it's just a way too much light when the photos were taken.

In the bidder questions at the bottom, someone asks about the finish shine and the reply is it's just the lighting. There does seem to be a colour flaw on one of the side bottom panels where an obvious light to dark streak exists, and I would think if it were refinished or restored they might have caught that, but on the other hand just leave it to fool people! Personally, I would inspect it before paying. JC might do that or have somone he knows in the area do it.

This seems to be a rare piece; like I said it's not in the catalog reprint (unless I missed it) but it is in the Warmans price guide book listed at 5500-6500.
