I just got back from some serious digging in some storage buildings in the middle of nowhere. Apparently the collection was the leftovers from a dealer that used to sell a lot of A&C in the late 80's and 90"s. I bought a few things and salivated over some items they were not ready to part with. A good day, nonetheless! I'll take a cue from Stonecat and see if anyone wants to take a guess at what I found.

I myself am stumped by the stool, which has some damage to one of the supports that is not pictured. I have a couple guesses, but I lack the catalog I need to see if I am even close.
Other goodies I found included:
1992 GPI Conference poster I'll likely stick on Ebay due to lack of wall space
Framed Anita Munman poster
A foot high stack of books on A&C furniture and pottery, including some that are out of print (now I can ID Come-Pakt)
A first edition of Edith Wharton's Italian Villas and Their Gardens with illustrations by Maxfield Parish
I'm kicking myself that I did not photograph the not-for-sale items as there were a few interesting pieces. It was quite a place to visit. |

| The chair is Lifetime and the bowl looks like Rookwood. |

| Right on the chair (in spite of the fact I should have taken the pillow off the back for the photo). The bowl is not Rookwood, but that's a good guess. It's actually not quite that good. |

| I'm going to guess Weller on the bowl. |

That's it! The bowl is Weller, and while I am not ordinarily a collector of Weller, I really like the pattern. All the other pottery they had was Hull, so I was pleased to find it buried in a box in the basement. The basement was terrible-- I had to avoid indescribable nastiness as they had kept dogs down there and standing water was in one corner, so I feel like I rescued the pottery from very bad surroundings.
I'm guessing the stool is likely junk, but I just threw it in with some lots I was buying so it was virtually free. I'd just love to know if it rings any bells with anyone. |
