Before I ramble on I must tell a little about myself. My closest friends know me as a metal head, though I consider myself a metal master, others may call me a metal freak. But I love heavy metal in so many forms. I have collected music from several artists which include: Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Lacuna Coil, Anthrax, AC/DC (though they are considered more like hard rock), Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Heavenly, Primal Fear, and several others in small compilations or I just started in collecting. But on to the topic at hand for new music interests. For me it is another genre of metal: Death Metal. People give it too much of a bad rap only because they look at certain bands and think that all death metal bands are alike. For example some bands are into gore related or anti-religious lyrics and other explicit topics, like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel and Deicide. But there are good death metal bands that don't have such lyrics but have more thoughtful lyrics, I have found them to be under melodic death metal so far. I have started looking at two bands recently: In Flames and Arch Enemy. Both are awesome and each have unique styles, but I love Arch Enemy simply because of its power and intensity. Plus their vocalist is a woman. Don't believe me? Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXsWWGmq2CY
To put simply death metal can be cool. |

Yes it can. So can rap. If I may do a little mad-libbing with your post:
People give rap too much of a bad rap only because they look at certain bands and think that all rap groups are alike. For example some bands are into ho's and bitches or drugs, money, and crime related lyrics and other explicit topics, like Eminem, 50Cent, and others. But there are good rap groups that don't have such lyrics but have more thoughtful lyrics, I have found them to be under Psychopathic Records so far. I have started looking at two bands recently: Twiztid and Insane Clown Posse. Both are awesome and each have unique styles, but I love ICP simply because of their deep positive messages for society.
(Red is stuff I edited in)
Do you see what I mean? |

Personally, I'm into country. Dunno why I ever hated it so much.
Mostly the song that hooked me was Trace Adkins' "Songs about Me". After that, I began to notice all sorts of interesting aspects in country music, and now it comprises most of what I listen to. _________________ "Cork of a pork!" ~ Coach Z |

| Yeah, even country isn't all bad. "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" by Big&Rich and "Thank God For You" by Sawyer Brown are both great songs. I don't think there is any genre of music that you can say is inherently bad in all its forms. |

My favorite music would definitely be classical. Not that I don't enjoy other genres, or that I'm trying to flaunt a superior musical taste, but I find it hard to beat such greats as Schubert's Erlkonig (if you've never heard it, you owe it a listen with a translation of the German text in front of you). _________________ Azaghâl Gabilgatholu |

"Ode to Joy" by Beethoven is one of the most moving pieces of music ever written, in my humble opinion. Mozart also wrote some wonderful pieces, as did Bach. My classical music knowledge doesn't go any more obscure than that, though. |

Yeah, but only to a point, Milky. After about five loops of it running through your head, you're just about ready to follow that Goomba off a cliff. _________________ "Cork of a pork!" ~ Coach Z |

While it is one of, I still believe, as per one man's opinion, that "Moonlight Sonata" by the same. That, in my opinion, was his best work. _________________ "A Nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.
For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in familiar accents to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the heart of all men. He rots the souls of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillar of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." |
