So I went to Georgia this weekend for my first pro tournament, the A-tier Atlanta Open. Played on Saturday at J.P. Moseley Park in Stockbridge, and at FlyBoy Aviation DGC in Whitesburg on Sunday. Finished T-30 out of 41. Not the result I had hoped for, but I did get to play with Barry Schultz, Henry Childres, and some really good golfers. Also met Climo, Feldberg, and a bunch of other well known guys. The course at J.P. Moseley is as nice as anything in Virginia, if not nicer. Long, short, wooded, open, spectacularly taken care of public course. Highlight was carding a 2 on hole 18, the first ever according to the locals. 500' uphill shot. Threw in a Challenger from about 100-125 feet. Barry said, "Nice shot". As wonderful as that course was, FlyBoy blows that and every other course I have ever played out of the water. There are great pictures on DGCR, of every one of the 27 holes. Unfortunately, they can't begin to do it justice. You know the feeling you have when you are driving down the road and see this perfectly mowed field with a lake and think how cool it would be to play disc golf there? Well, pretty much every hole at FlyBoy is like that. Absolutely amazing. It is private, but some of us are making a road trip next year..........
Check out the pix, I will go into detail if you have questions.
