thanks for the comps on the pics...ive got like over 500 pics...but many are way out there to download from work...so when i get my computer back next week...ill post more later.
but being my 1st DRAGONCON...i had a splendid time...i mean an AWESOME TIME!!! trooped with josh, gary and double d. DRAGONCON is massive n quite "adult" at times and non-stop, 24/7 fun and adventure.
took a pic with MAJOR VICTORY, FAT MAMMA and FEEDBACK from WHO WANTS TO BE SUPERHERO? they were awesome n they loved 501st. also took a pic w/ LORI PETTY though she seemed rather reserved and out there in her mood. best part was meeting with the cast of BUCK ROGERS (gil gerard and erin grey). great seeing some of the SW cast too...had D. PROWSE sign an action figure for my brother.
didnt spend any $$$ on any toys and what not...no souvenirs at all. not into tees and what not anymore. spent the most time at DC just taking pics n pics n pics. ;) like i said i took over 500 pics...n WOW...the other BAST members would say the same...DC WAS THE BOMB!!!
its rather risque and adult-themed at times...especially at night at the HYATT. there were goth bands n goth grrls running around...just tons of fun. DC was spreadout between hotels...HILTON had the vendors only. MARRIOTT had the guests and photo ops...n HYATT...well...they had "ALL THE FUN". ;)
the fire marshall on FRI n SAT nite turned ppl away due to the tons of ppl wanting to go to the HYATT...there was a looooooooooooooooooooooong line around the hotel to just get in...i heard ppl were waiting for like 1-2 hrs to get in the hotel. they even stopped ppl who were HYATT guests coming in...cause was there way toooooo many ppl in the hotel.
ive got sooo many compliments on my TIE PILOT gear...i was rather surprised not seeing many TIE PILOT around DC save 1 or 2 here n there. i wish i had coordinated earlier for a squad of TIE PILOTS to swarm con but i had sooo much on my plate.
now...the DC parade was awesome...nice cool breezy weather n just marching downtown ATLANTA...was exciting n fun. it felt like MARDI GRAS save the beads hitting your head. ;) we did take a 501st GROUP PHOTO SHOT before the DC parade and that was fun...met some kewl folks and great seeing some old friends.
i did suffer a slight injury to my feet...trooping around in my TIE armour...my boots sliced up my feet n the athletic tape i had like rip some of my flesh off. :(
the best thing i had fun time doing was having the new JOLLY ROGER SQ 12" mascot..."JET WASH"...take some pics around DC...the grrls loved it!!! omg...JET WASH got some action.
all in all...it was fun trooping around w/ JOSH, DOUBLE D and GARY...tons of pics n cant wait till next year!!!

WOW!!! Sounds like an awesome time was had. Guess I need to start planning for next year's con. By the way.. the DC parade made the TP Sunday paper with a picture of Chewie marching in it.

Dragon Con was AWESOME! I wish everyone could have went. So many fantastic, funny, scary, crazy, risque' costumes. Just about any sci-fi, horror, fantasy movie, Japanimation or TV series you can think of, there was some one dressed up in a costume. At night was DEFINITELY not for kids, as the some of the costumes got VERY skimpy. Had a great time hangin with Josh, Lauren, Dave D. and Jhon. We got some great pics with Dodger the Biker Scout mascot and Jet Wash the TI mascot. I trooped everyday with Sunday night being the longest at almost 6 hours in costume. I think the earliest any of us got in was 4 to 5am. I was so wiped out from Friday night I didn't make the parade or the 501st photo shoot. :( Oh well. Next year. Josh was an excellent wrangler. "Thanks, Josh!"
Celebs I met while walking around the con were Gigi Edgley (Chiana) from Farscape as she was buying a Coke, John DeLancie (Q from Star Trek) as he was checking in at the Hilton. Sat outside with Peter Mayhew (Chewie, DUH!) and his wife Angie at the Hyatt and discussed Mardi Gras for a long time. (I will fill in the details on the other thread) Dave D and I ran into Ray Park at the Mariott, talked with him about Mardi Gras, possibly 2009 he seemed very interested and gave me one of his cards to stay in contact with him. He actually seemed disappointed he did not hear from his agent about Mardi Gras 2008. He took pics with Dave D and myself. Ran into Richard Leparmerita (Admiral Motti) in the Bar area of the Hyatt. I videoed a message from him to Keith, saying your Admiral commands you to be at Dragon Con next year. He remembered us from C4, guess we made a lasting impression. I took about as many pics as Jhon, something close to 500. I will start posting them when I get a chance. I really hope more of you all can make it next year. I know we all had a great time, everyone was super nice. Just keep in mind those of you with kids, there is adult content, especially at night. Think Bourbon street Mardi Gras costumes.

Woooo-hoooo!!! Made it back in one piece!! All I have to say is I second what Templar and Vader said... it was GREAT! I loved every minute of trooping and hanging out with you guys.
Josh... were you there??? Just kidding... Thanks for the hook up at the 501st table on Monday!!! She was really bragging about all of the 501st swag. She is truely a Storm Trooper groupie!! I finally got to meet Lauren as well, tell her I said hello and that it was nice to meet her. Wish you guys would have gotten out more though.. :)
Keith... dang buddy... you'll have to see the vid we made for you... in the immortal words of Pink Floyd... "Wish you were here..." I added a whole bunch of commentary for you... Double D style...
Templar and I talked and we have some lessons learned from this con that we'd like to share with you guys...
1. Bring your own alcohol and soft drinks / water if you want to drink. Most of the bars in the hotels closed down by the time we suited down and stopped trooping so when we were ready to "hit the scene" it was hitting back saying "last call" or sorry we're closed. We couldn't even get water when we were IN costume at times. Atlanta has some weird bar rules...
2. Bring your own snacks and / or food (goes with above beverages).. Bring a large cooler to put everything in... You might even want to bring an electric hot plate or something to cook and heat the water up as there were no microwaves or fridges in our room. With hot dogs being $5.00 each (with nothing on them-just bun and dog), hamburgers at $10.00 and beers at $6.00 each... YOU WILL GO BROKE quickly. Don't even ask about the mini-bar or room service prices.
3. Bring your gear down to your car on SUNDAY night before the Monday morning rush... The average wait for an elevator was 45 minutes on Monday morning and Templar and I ended up carrying all of my gear and a bit of his down 21 flights of stairs to get to the lobby where we stood in line again to get on another elevator to go down to the parking area... LOTS OF LINES!!!
4. Leave at 0130 in the morning on Tuesday to go home... I didn't have to pay for parking because there wasn't an attendant on duty.. he he I saved about $80.00 in parking fees...I got out of my truck and asked the security guard (who was sleeping.. I had to knock on his window to wake him) what I should do and he said "nothing, it's free because no one is working tonight..." ;) Party on.. :)
5. (If you are single) Hit on non-dressed women as well as dressed women.. I had an email waiting on me when I got home from a girl I took a picture with telling me she was sorry if she offended my wife (she thought your wife was my wife-didn't know I was single) but she thought I was hitting on her and wanted to know if I really was... Gary... you should get a laugh about this one... It was the girl in RED that I kept flirting with... She found me on the 501st website using the pic with my badge number... SO BEWARE of doing ANYTHING LEWD with your badge on because they WILL FIND YOU!!! I'm just waiting on the Star Ship Trooper chick and the Storm Trooper SL*T chicks to write me... (Inside joke) I did end up hanging out with a girl who wasn't in costume at all... so it works either way.
6. Bring your own alcohol.... Oh did I say that already???
Ok... PRE-REGISTER!!!!! I stood in line for at least 3.5 hours.. IN ARMOR!!!! It wasn't pretty. I will never go without pre-registering again. The lines were wrapped around the entire hotel and once you got inside there were 23 rows of people wrapping from right to left inside of the registration building with about 30 people in each of the 23 lines...kinda like at Disney World to get on Space Mountain... If you didn't pre-register, bring cash with you, people with cash were let in front of people without when registering.
7. Organize your gear to the smallest units possible for carrying, it's easier to get on the elevators and in and out of your car. Bring something with wheels if at all possible to carry all of the stuff without wheels.
8. Make sure you have some sort of bag or a hollow detonator on your Armor to carry your camera, license, money, etc, etc.. I didn't and it was a PAIN!!! Thanks to Vaders wife for wrangling for us, taking pictures, getting us water, running to the room for fix-it stuff and carrying all of my patches, money, etc while we were trooping. I OWE YOU!!! You guys have MORE than made up for the pizza so stop using that line... he he
9. Don't meet a girl on the last night of the con... You will only stay late, spend more money and get home a day later than you were supposed to.
10. Don't let anyone else hold your blasters or helmets.. I had a drunk Starship Trooper chick break the scope off of my E-11 as I was hiking a football from her... (Don't ask) Thanks to Vader and Templar for fixing that for me.
11. Have fun next year!!!!!
I have pics to share as well but I am going to check out what is posted and if I have something that isn't a duplicate of what 's already up there I'll post it... I took a lot of the same shots as Gary and Jhon.
I'd like to get a DVD of the pics from both of you guys (Gary and Jhon) and I will return the favor on my end. If anyone wants copies of my pics please let me know and I will make DVD's for ya. I only managed to take about 135 pics...
Gary... you gonna make copies of the video??
Cya troopers! Wish those who didn't make it could have!! For those who did, thanks for everything and hope to see ya next year at DRAGONCON!!
Peace!
-Double D

Well, after I settle up with Jhon for the room and the $5 hotdog he bought me I'll be at about $600.00 (roughly) but I bought a few toys for the kids (2 toys @ $15 ea), 3- t-shirts @$20 ea. I also drove my truck which gets horrible gas mileage compared to the little cars Jhon and Gary drove up... About $200 of that would be gas for me.. other stuff would be eats, room and drinks. It was also $75.00 for my ticket which may or may not be included in that figure... it's a rough estimate and I wasn't really keeping super close track of it. I know I did spend at least that much though.

Thanks DD, that's about how much it was to go to Miami
every year when I use to do the music con down there.
Packs of smokes were $6, long neck beer was $6.50(Corona)
$5.50 for domestic plus Florida has a lower Alc content hence the import.
I learned to go with people, shack up with people and bring my own smokes and beer. When we would leave for the day we'd stock up the bath tub with ics and beer then later that day we were good to go!
Thanks again for the info bro.

glad to read that everyone had an awesome time at their first Dragon Con.
Sorry Lauren and I where not around more, being in a different hotel that wasn't part of the con suxed big time, as well as walking the hills in armor to get there. Also, Lauren was a bit sick from being stressed out from her first weeks of school.
I look forward to next year with more BAS troopers.

I just posted more pics on the Fotki site... I don't think you will see any from Gary or Jhon until at least next week but they have the bulk of the "good ones" since Gary's wife was doing most of the picture taking while we were trooping.
Enjoy...
