Ouch - Looks like someone started to strip and someone else jumped in and said NOOOOOOO! So how do you go about judging a value on this? You would have to guesstimate an 'as is' value and then try to restore the part that's stripped and guesstimate again. I assume this is the way to go, by preserving as much of the original as possible and trying to match.

| Thing is, it's one of those situations where restoration is going to be difficult/tricky. It's a somewhat rare & important item, so you want to do it right or you risk losing more value by damaging it further. Better off in the hands of a professional restoration, which means more cost. |
