I went to the Wizard World Comic Con recently and I saw yall there and was amazed. I knew I wanted to join. So recently my friend and I have been trying, and failing mind you, at making our outfits. She's undecided on who she wants to be, but I have intent for Darth Revan. Now he, or she, in my case, and in my game, is very... challenging, to be put nicely. I was thinking about doing a bounty hunter to pay homage to my BH on SWTOR but I quickly decided against it. I was trying to get everything done in order to participate in the parades this year but it's a bit late for that, so I'm rather sad. But I do hope to join officially soon. Oh and before I forget, does anyone have any help or advice about making the costume(s)? It's a killer and difficult task. =(

This link (http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRLbyname) shows all of the currently approved costumes for the Legion. Take a little time to look around to decide on something you like.
Soft kits (i.e. Imperial Officer, Crewman, etc.) are usually easier than armored kits (i.e. Stormtrooper, Clone, etc.).
Each costume type has a detachment associated with it and that will be your #1 source to find out information about a particular costume.
Do some research on the detachments forums and don't be afraid to ask questions, we're here to help.
Good luck with your descision!

Welcome! I can speak from experience that Flashcove and Vexander are right on!
Lots of very helpful folks here who are helping me get my ISB outfit done. I know it seems daunting to fit the CRL guidelines, but the end product is well worth it, and the research and effort pay off huge dividends.
Best of luck in picking a costume!
Ash

welcome to the forums!
my advice is to start small and work up. Crewman such as what i usuall wear is the easiets, least expensive and fastest thing to get approved, and you build upon it from there.
Creman gives you Tie Pilot, Gunner, Navy Trooper and in the blue form of coveralls Mechanical Crewman, and the grey crewman gives you two types of Crweman, ATAT driver and ATST driver with hard parts swaps.
Definitely a way to start, with a lot of variety.
Hope to see more of you!

I have been known to help people out in my newly created studio / room .
I just helped another member finish a suit in quantum speed. Let me know if I can be of service. After just 2 days with a small amount of preparation, he is suited up and ready for action.
Not saying that is your case but ?????.

So I've decided on Revan and my friend has a question. She wants to do a Sith Lord who isn't on the list: Darth Lachris. We didn't want to do anything without asking first.

For 501st membership, it has to be a recognized and approved character.

She should head over to theflagshipeclipse.com and check out their forums. That's the place for all the Extended Universe characters. There might be a thread already there for the character, or she can start one of her own. They'd be the ones who'd approve a new EU character's costume. If she can pull it off well enough to get approved, it would end up getting added to the official lists.
