Another Kijiji find. Refinished, no mark, and relatively new cushions, washable covers and down filled pillows. I can live with it for $500, until something better turns up.
Every inch, almost, a Limbert #507 settle - comparison pics added. The differences are the lack of arch in the side stretchers, a bit taller, not pegged, posts are 3 piece glue up while Limbert is two, and through tenons are faux. The wood selection here is probably a bit below Limbert - the pieces that look plain sawn actually have small flake, except the front posts, oddly. This one adds to the mystery up my way about whether or not there was a Limbert copy-cat company in Canada; perhaps a license agreement with Limbert? It also begs the question if my 'Limbert' rocker is maybe a copy from this company. 'We' assume that there wasn't an American company that did almost exact copies because they would have probably been identified by now (other than Brooks of course, who as we've noted before really only copied a couple small pieces, and one Morris chair I think). The mystery copy pieces have all been large, i.e. this settle, rocker maybe, matching arm chair maybe, and oval top tables.

| Wow! And I agree with morganpam, once you can't live with it any more send it my way! Seriously, looks really nice and a very functional settle form. Recover those cushions with leather and you'll be set. |

Just getting lucky I think with Kijiji, sort of like Craigslist or eBay or even garage sales, score a couple things in rapid succession and then nothing for weeks/months. When doing shows it's now common conversation with other part timers, Did you see the nice whatever on Craigs..., or A good this or that came out of wherever posted on Kijiji...last month, etc. etc. Lots of people looking, but with lots of places to look, sometimes you beat someone else to it. _________________
