I'm in the process of restoring the "spectacular set of 1,200 matte-glazed Grueby tiles rescued from a Cleveland, Ohio, bathroom" right now.
Many were damaged when they were removed. I've done 30 tiles so far–restoring broken tiles, chipped edges, screw holes and removing adhesive mastic.
He plans to completely rebuild the bathroom after the tiles are restored. I'm doing about 20 tiles a month, so it could be a few years...
I told him if he sold all that stuff, he could start a pretty decent Roseville collection. He was not amused. |

I'm not certain he has sense of humor, especially when you are bidding against him. One would think with the resources at his disposal, my bids are but a very small inconvenience to get what he wants. Apparently not.
I shall now shut my virtual mouth on this topic. |

Is it going to be a public restroom? |

Urine can be hard on a restoration... could also be tricky retrofitting it for handicap access.
The way I understand it, it will have the original fixtures (tub, sink, toilet, etc.) but not plumbed. I think I'd pass on restoring the toilet if it came up. |

| All I can tell you is Rudy has been traveling around to look at other successful restaurants in museums. |

| I guess the "successful" criteria rules out recreating the original Craftsman restaurant. |

I wouldn't be surprised if the restaurant was based on the Craftsman restaurant with farm fresh period food. Something similar to the restaurant at the Neue Galerie in NYC or the Salvador Dali Museum's cafe in St. Petersburg, Florida, both of which are themed on the period of art the museums show.
And if you ever get the chance to go to either museum they are both well worth the effort. If you are in Richmond, VA, I also highly suggest their restaurant for dinner. |

| That is too bad, hopefully he will find another location. I am sure he is pretty disappointed. |
