Bill you could always use the mission statement of the Legion:
"The Legion is a volunteer club formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts and giving them a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion's aims are to celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and most importantly, to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work."
And you could incorporate some of this:
"The Bast Alpha Garrison is the Louisiana chapter of the 501st Legion featuring the "bad guys" from the Star Wars Universe. The 501st Legion has over 4000 members from all 50 states and 22 countries around the world."

I think I'll use those, and mention Children's Hospital and Cancer Services of Baton Rouge as two of the charities we assist.
Much obliged!

I've been having really bad asthma attacks 2 times since beginning of November and other smaller attacks. Unfortunately, my health wins out. I would rather that than take the chance that I need a breathing treatment in middle of something...
This did sound like a great opportunity and I would love to participate but not feasible at the moment.

Gary I just noticed that you are down for both the parade and the toy distribution party in Baton Rouge. They're basically at the same time, have you cloned yourself so you can be at both? lol

The more the merrier!
I just got more info on the parade:
We're spot #23 in the parade (roughly in the middle). There's a reviewing stand, and the announcer is a friend of mine, so we'll get more than "It's the Star Wars people!" :)
We'll need to meet up by 1 pm. I'll get the exact address needed and update this tomorrow (one of the Destrehan coaches' house is the rendevous, within walking distance of the line-up point). There will be food if we're hungry.
The parade will start at 2:00. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on the levee by helicopter around 1:45, and the parade will start shortly after.

We only have one wrangler, Theresa, who will be driving the chase vehicle, so I guess that she'll have to ferry everyone back, 4 at a time.
Gary finished my biker scout helmet, so I'll be trooping in that get-up.

No worries on that - the parade ends at its starting point :)
Also, is there a Garrison or Legion banner or signage that I can pick up?

AWESOME troop today!
Weather was perfect, great crowd. You could tell they were not expecting us, but they loved seeing us.
We've already been invited back for next year (and they'll feed us again, too!)
Thanks to everyone for participating.
Steve - love the TK! Your armor looks great, and I appreciate you driving out all this way!
Dave - Santa Scout was a big hit!
Brian - thanks for being our eyes and ears on the route!
Ken - the new TB looks awesome - the crowd loved it!
Theresa - thanks for being our pilot!
Gary - Vader made the event - thanks for coming out!
Some friends have posted pics on facebook - I've asked if I can post them here.

This was a great parade, much better than I was expecting. The route was not long but not short either and the crowd was family oriented. I've already told Bill to pencil me in for next year. Blll, pass on my thanks to your friends who opened up their house and offered us their hospitality.
Their is now 2 troops on my "to do" list. The first is Earl's Halloween Group Home troop and the second is the Norco Christmas parade!

Ken and I want to say how much we enjoyed todays troop.
The Norco parade was a great event. We had perfect weather,
great hosts and wonderful comrades who made the whole day
one that we will be glad to repeat next year. thanks to all.
