"Thanks," Duncan nodded, straightened himself out and pressed a few buttons. He would probably find out in a few moments what race their colleague in business was. "This is admiral Gawronsky, commanding officer of the Mild Vistas and the Event Horizon, calling the Eclipse. It looks like we're going to be working together," he began. "In gesture of potential friendship, I ask, 'How's it hanging?'" Duncan did his best smile, and awaited a reply.

Duncan's viewscreen would flicker, a fractal pattern soemwhat resembling an overly complex snowflake started a chirpy, and feminine "Greeetings." before the pattern cut out, and then swapped ot reveal the interior of a cockpit. It was, well, it was the cockpit of a scout. One could see from the shots off to the side of the man answering that there were indeed, no other crewmembers in the cabin.
"Fleegal Grashlick of the Eclipse." He stopped speaking for a second, before he seemed to remember. " It hangs well, thank you." There was nothing toos triking about him, he would have been just another mercenary with a little too much stubble showing exactly how much he generally cared for appearances, except his skin was purple.

The pause was only brief however, as he leaned forwards towards the camera, conspiratorially, and got the business out of the way. "I'm equipped for stealth, and I have an array with me that can give good intel. I'm sure it'll be a pleasure doing business with you Admiral."

DUNCAN, MILD VISTAS

"Excellent, thank you. As you can probably tell from your sensors," Duncan proceeded to an introduction of his own capabilities, "I've got stealth plating on my ships, as well - though I should think that honest, point-blank range combat is my little fleet's main strength. If there's need, we can haul quite a bit of scrap and suchlikes with us, too." The Event and the Vistas were similar designs, both biological ships, the latter sporting a huge turretted cannon, and the former a pair of high-caliber torpedo tubes.

"Say, have you got any word on our job, 'cept what we've been told about it at Station Zero?"

"I just got through the warp gate, I'll be lucky if the bastards here give me proper star telemetries at this rate." The stubbled mercenary offered a resigned shrug within his cabin, the image being transmitted, before he glanced off towards another screen.

"Err, Eris insists I ask about whether either of your ships has a functional onboard AI."

DUNCAN, MILD VISTAS

"Naw," Duncan replied, wondering who 'Eris' was. "Our computers systems are top-of-the-line, but actual decision-making stays in human hands," he declared with some degree of pride. As far as he was concerned, artificial intelligences were as much an asset as a liability. Duncan did not like the potential situation in which he was faced with insurbordination from the ship itself.

GRASHLICK, THE ECLIPSE

"Fair enough. Well just be prepared for a bunch of scanner info to be dumped into your arrays if things get ugly. Grashlick out." He reached forward and tapped a button carefully, his eye flicking to make sure the communication light was out before he let out what sounded very much like a swear of curses. The only really discernable word was one that repeated itself a few times "luddite".

DUNCAN, MILD VISTAS

Duncan raised an eyebrow at Grashlick hanging up, then shrugged. "Vinny, raise our employer and find out what is it that we're waiting for. I would like to know how big a fleet they're assembling."

"Sure thing, Skipper," acknowledged the communications officer, and proceeded to do just that.

Lance, Thermopylae II

Captain Lance was enjoying his new ship, and was feeling a great pride in his crew--not a one decided to drop. He was currently in his personal cabin, looking at availiable jobs. He grinned as he saw one--bounty hunting. He quickly signed up for it, and began to head for the helm.

Erik: As you roll towards relative safety someone tosses a grenade at the coppers, who quickly dive out of the room to take cover from the blast. At the same time, you can hear various alarms going off and the blast door to this room begins to close. This doesn't deter the others in the room as they continue to blast away at the wall, the blast door and the coppers.

Anno/Confusion: The diplomat's vessel responds on an open channel, showing a small human with short hair, behind him a 3 man crew are taking care of the ship itself. "We were waiting for our drives to charge up and the latest scans to arrive. Not that those were anything special, but command insisted we wait for them. Might I suggest that, now that you two have the introductions over, we depart as soon as possible? My name, in case you are interested, is chief diplomat Kane Cransbury, of the Terran imperial navy."

Tarinaky: It's 3 more hours before your scientists report back again. This time with the rather good news that they've managed to seize control of a part of the station's external defenses. In particular, the station's automated point defense system. It's currently set to intercept incoming asteroids and other hostile objects, but should be reprogrammable with a reasonable amount of work

Weaponry:
240 Light Graviton Emitters, configured for point defense
600 UV Gatling lasers, configured for point defense
80 MPBCs, configured for defense against asteroids and orbital debris.
40 Point Defense Rockets, configured for point defense. Unknown number of reloads.

Misc mounts:
At least 8x capital ship docking facility, capable of stowing 4 battleship class vessels each.
At least 1x advanced AI interface and support systems

Cargo:
100 Alien Battle Walkers (The other 150 are aboard the Kibalchich, being retrofitted for human use)

Captain Lance, Thermopylae II

"Helm, set us a course to the Centauri system! We've got a pirate to hunt."

The Helm Officer quickly plotted a course, and the Thermopylae II left on her first mission. With luck, she'd last longer than her predecessor.

DUNCAN, MILD VISTAS

"Whenever you're ready," Duncan agreed. He concentrated on the comm's screen, while the new astrogator was having some trouble adjusting to unfamiliar software in the background. Fortunately, nothing exploded. Yet. "We're ready to leave at a moments, notice. Can't speak for the Eclipse, just my own fleet, though."

"Excellent work!" this was, quite possibly, the first bit of good news he'd had since destroying the lone corvette "How soon can you bring Fire Control completely under our control?"

GRASHLICK, THE ECLIPSE

"I was born readier than your fleet will ever be." Finally having received its astrogation data, the scout class Eclipse engaged its faster than light engines towards the goal system. "See you there."

DUNCAN, MILD VISTAS

"Bill, be ready to leave at the moment our charge does," Duncan said to the Vistas' actual captain, intending to do what the job description said - to escort. Clearly, it would be a bad thing if the diplomat was lost to a pirate attack or the like. He trasmitted his intentions to the Event, not bothering to engage voice communications.

"Aye, sir, doing just that," acknowledged the former electronics warfare officer, and conveyed specific orders to the new helmswoman. Fortunately, with Michael to show her the ropes, there weren't likely to be any problems with flying around. At least out of combat. Duncan hoped the newbies would learn quickly, even though the mission wasn't an outwardly violent one. One never knew what lurked beyond the metaphorical horizon.

Normatisavan

Let's see, what did I bring that can get me out of this... knockout gas, no, search tool for conveniently located exits, no, healing patches, yes, but that won't get me very far, tools for cutting through walls or blast doors, no, combat drugs, no, a weapon, yes, not that that helps much Normatisavan thought as he took a quick stock of what tools he had available. "This isn't my fight." he said quickly in case anyone was looking for targets, and decided to wait it out as much as he could.
