|
|
It has been a long off season and the winter match never materialized. I do have the Port Club booked for Saturday, April 18th and in case of a foul weather day, I booked the following Saturday, the 25th.
Providing the weather cooperates, we plan on setting up a full 60 shot rifle field target match with a variety of target difficulties. As to classes, we are treating this match as a preparation for the regular FT matches already on the schedule. Shooters will use whatever division and class rules they want in order to shake off the rust and get back in the swing of things. New shooters will be able to try whatever style they like. For instance, you could shoot half the match according to Hunter Division rules and the second half Open or International. We are also considering starting the match at noon instead of 11:00AM, hoping it will be warmer by then.
We will not be handing out the normal division awards, but do intend to award everyone with lots of chilli, Italian bread and beverages after the match. Seeing old friends, making new friends, the social part of the day and the fun come as standard features of all matches.
The charge for the match will be $10, part of which goes to the Conservation Club and the rest for grub. It should be a very relaxed atmosphere to kick off the 2009 season. I hope you can make it out to the Port Colborne and District Conservation Club to share in the day.
About a week before the match I will send another reminder with all plans finalized and will ask you to let me know if you will be attending.
Get those rigs dusted off, sorted out and be ready.

True enough. The long range forecast was dismal for all this coming week, but changed over night. Now if Saturday could be added to the many sunny days in a row, we're laughing. Too early to really know what is going to happen in a weeks time, but I will remain positive.

So far the weather forecast is holding fairly well for Saturday, so unless we have real bad weather, it looks like we are on for a fun match on Saturday the 18th. The gates will be open at 8:00 AM and the sight in range will be set up. Once the sight in range is ready, we will open it. The match will be scheduled to start at roughly 11:00 AM. Since there are no division awards, which of the five styles of shooting you choose is up to you. You will have a score card, but it is just for you to keep track of how you do. At the end of the match, there will be chilli with Italian bread and butter, as well as hot and cold drinks.
The cost for the match will be $10, half the normal price and for those under 16 years old the cost will be will be $5. New shooters can shoot this one free or pay for this one and get the first regular match free, which normally costs $20 to enter. We want to cover our cost for food, give some money to the PC&DCC and hopefully break even on this fun match.
If you will be attending, please let me know as soon as you can to make the planning for the match, food and drinks easier. Thanks
Hope to see you on Saturday.

It is not going to be set up as a pistol FT match, but if someone wanted to use an air pistol that is legal to use in Canada, they are welcome to do so. The targets will vary in difficulty from fairly easy to very difficult with any rifle. Another problem may be the fact that most of the targets will be set for rifle power and may not fall consistently with the power of a legal pistol. This is a fun match for folks to try whatever they would like. You could shoot part of the match with rifle and part with pistol.
It is going to be a fun day.
