A lot of diffrent groups use sensitives in different ways. The following is our current way of using sensitives on an investigation. Since the subject of psychics and sensitives is a highly debated subject. We at E.G.P. tried several different approaches some with better results than others.

1. We Do Not let sensitives book locations or conduct pre investigation interviews. The reasoning behind this is that if a sensitive books a location, or conducts a pre-investigation interview, that invalidates any data that the psychic or sensitive brings forth. I know many sensitives will say "they didn't tell me anything" but the arguement can still be rationaly made that a pre exsisting knowlegde was present.

2. We also have instituted a policy that psychics and sensitives are not to know the location until we are enroute to the site. The reasoning behind this policy is to take away the arguement that the sensitive looked up information about the site on the web. Especially in the case of famous sites (as everyone knows sites like shadowlands have everything about the more well known locations). This is just an expansion on the first one since the same arguement can be made.

3. We also try to cover grave marker inscriptions(in small private cemetaries), Historical Plaques during base set up if possible. This takes away the arguement that the psychic/sensitive read any information from the sources on the investigation site.

4. We also like to "isolate" the sensitive before an investigation this usualy means letting them sit in the vehicle listening to the radio, grounding themselves etc... while the rest of us set up and do pre-investigation interviews etc...(sounds like a sweet deal to me getting to chill in the A.C. while watching e1 else sweat setting up lol)

some of this sounds a little harsh to some, and others love it. I personaly see it this way, If a sensitive picks up something going in as blind as possible , and they are backed up by history, then it is a lot more meaningful than if we didn't take these steps.

The new policies are definately good in my opinion. It truly validates things if the sensitive happens to hit on them. Also it leaves no question as to whether the sensitive had any pre-existing knowledge. But as for how we use sensitives, just to inform those outside the group, we use them to detect the presence of possible entities. Either those that have roamed throughout the property or maybe even one currently present in a room being investigated..Sort of a paranormal radar for the team so we can zero in with the scientific equipment and possibly record the entity.
However, Many times we are also studying the sensitives themselves. Maybe one day we will begin to understand the phenomena of ESP. Unfortunately, because a sensitive hit can not be scientifically proven for now, we can not use anything they pick up on as evidence.

I personally have seen them come in very handy at times though just like an emf meter would be.

sadly you are correct frank, too many folks and buissnes are out to make a buck on the paranormal... (not us though we do what we do for free, and dont even accept donations)

This is one of the things that I admire most about this group. We are not here for fame, we are not in it to make money, we are just here to help people understand the paranormal and try to understand it ourselves.
Every team member is willing to invest thier time and money in order to accomplish this. However, what Jack said is not entirely true... If someone wants to donate a plate of home-baked cookies or a cake while we investigate thier place, we'll take that....

I agree 100% with EGP's policy concerning the use of sensitives on investigations. Too many times with other groups, I've seen their use contaminated by the fact they knew where the group was going ahead of time or they walked in with the rest of the group and heard some of the stories of alleged activity, saw photographs or other important information, etc. It just makes sense to follow the procedures and protocols you have created on investigations. I'll bet only a small number of paranormal groups that use sensitives have such a policy in place.

sadly jim there are a lot of sensitives who get offended when you let them know what the protocals are for the team.

You're right, Jack, but they shouldn't be offended if they want to be taken seriously. I think sensitives need to prove their abilities. It just makes their findings all the more cerdible if they do.
