It looks like the sale of the old site is going through. The new owners have asked us to stick around while they make changes to the old site.

I wish them luck. But I like this new site much better. You did good, Stonecat. It is hard dealing with that rule of posting no pictures until you have written five posts.

I don't even check the old site anymore. Haven't even visited in a couple weeks now. This one seems to be going along just fine, with no real threat of it disappearing.

Oh well, as already noted its a default built-in feature. On the bright side, there has been zero attempt at any spam so far.

Just to keep you all informed the ACS forum was acquired and will make the transformation in the next few weeks/months. The new owners are inviting all to participate. I am not certain what is in store for the new forum and thought all should know what is going on.

Is there a way to click on something that will let me see all of the posts that are new since the last time I visited?

Stonecat, is there a way to post at the top of the page where you have search, membership lists, etc., a link to a discussion where you explain how to post photos.

Do it in A, B, C order or a list that explains ways to do it from E-bay for example or your own photo. That was always a downfall with the old Forum. Every new person that tried to post a photo for discussion ran into problems. A lot of them just gave up.

If it can be explained in simple language for the non-computer folk, that will make it easier for new members to post photos and start discussions.

Right at the bottom of each thread there are two things you can click for showing whatever time period you want, last day, last seven days etc. and oldest or newest first. In the main index, sections with new posts are highlighted with the symbols on the left. You can also click a thing at the bottom of the new message box that will 'notify you' (by email) when there is something new. Just look around for all these things.

Instructions for posting pictures are in the Announcements section.

On the main site index page, there is a link on the right upper side that says 'View posts since last visit'.

If people want to search for possible domain names, here are some web sites which will help determine what is available:

bustaname dot com
nameboy dot com
instantdomainsearch dot com

(I can't post links yet. sorry.)

Here are some names for this forum:

The Mission of Arts and Crafts: 1900-1925
The American Arts and Crafts Movement: 1900-1925
The 1900-1925 Arts and Crafts Movement in the United States

The only thing is that it doesn't say that is a discussion group. I hesitate to use the word forum because it is already taken.

"The American..." anything, precludes Canada and Europe and it would be best to keep it universal I think, even though obviously the major content of the forum is American. Domain names is another story. I just want to go one step at a time and the first step (meaning, the first thing to pay for) is to get the ads removed. I'll spare you the details but it's incedible that they haven't done it yet. I have two really good domain names in my head but I'm not going to post them, just to keep them safe for now.

I believe it was a link from the old Arts & Crafts Society Forum that I had put in my bookmarks and just found again.
