We had a blast today with you guys...But it turned out to be a LOOOONNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG trip home.
We get off the BR bridge heading home a little after 5 right...well we didnt hit the begining of the Atch. Basin bridge till 10 PM last night....yes you heard right, 10 PM last night as it is now 2:50 AM and we are just now getting home... A 2 hour trip gone bad...LOL Not really it was just long and tiring..lol
Long story short...several really bad wrecks on the Atch. Basin and a LOT of traffic...
Needless to say we still had a ton of fun...thanks again for inviting us and having us out there. Was good to see some old friends and great to meet some new ones!! Cant wait to troop with you guys again!!!
Will post up the pics we got on the fotki site after we have had some food and a shower and SLEEP!!!!!!!!! LOL
P.S. Our adopted son Zack (one who was with us today) had a blast and I think we have another possible member in the works!!! The troop helped him overcome a big fear of being around alot of people at once. And I just want to say thanks to those of you who connected with him and made him feel like one of us. He was really excited the whole way back here just talking about how cool it was meeting ya'll and having so much fun!! He will probably be with us on more troops as I think we really have him hooked now..LOL

It was really a fun troop. Ang and Dei so sorry to hear about your ordeal, I went through the same thing 2 weeks ago coming from Lake Charles, it took me
3 hours to get from Lake Charles to Lafayette thanks to a bad accident.
Hats off to the Red Stick Rebellion, they put together a very nice event and you could tell the kids loved it. I will post the pics I have later today.

The day was a blast, the kids where great, the RSR boyz did an awesome job and can't wait to see some pics.
I too talk with the RSR guys after the days events, thanked them for having us out and invited them to join up on the BAS forum and to come on out for any other troops that they would be able to make. I hope they can and do, we always need some Jedi and Rebel Scum for a good Order 66 scene.

They both did ask me a bunch of questions
about joining the 501st and us and I think it'll
only be a matter of them getting their costumes
ready.
I think it would be VERY cool to have them doing order 66 and duals
against our resident sith bros :)

Oh trust me...I seriously thought about crossing the median several times if I knew the van would have made it and just turned back and stayed to do the NO event....Only thing stopping me was my mom being stuck with all 3 of my kids for another day..LOL I think I would lose my sitter if I had done that...LOL But it did cross my mind several times!!!
Regardless we had alot of fun...Dei said sorry for wimping out so early on us but he had been really sick yesterday morning, I am glad he was able to hang in there as long as he did!!
Maybe we can plan some things to do for next year for them and have some other little events or something for the kids. I think this would be a neat idea for the years to come Maybe like a mini droid hunt but for the kids to search for them and we can award them prizes for collecting them...I think they would have a lot of fun with that one!!
Anyways off to do this birthday party thing for my nephew...and Happy birthday to our troopers with birthdays this month!!!! Ya'll have fun at the concert tonight too and stay safe!!!

Ang, we were thinking about the same things for some of the local cons, festivals and other trooping events. Definatly a Droid Hunt of some kind, I personally like the idea of a "Easter Egg" type hunt for the Droids for the littler kids, along with a 'Golden' Droid card.
From CIV, I got some other ideas like:
using nerf guns to shot cardboard standees (Jawas and Ewoks )
the classic bead bag game, through either the Wampa mouth or Death Star Exaust Port (or one could use a fresbee)
The RSR guys also let me have copies of the coloring pics, so now we can make those to give away also.
For a Droid hunt card, I would love to see what our troopers could come up with.

Awesome.... I do have permission from Jon Jongsma to use his CGI pics of the droids he has done up...so thats an idea, like the ones I did up for All-Con this past year..
So thats one idea.. I am also working on the Droid Hunt cards for All-Con next year...so anything ya'll can think of let me know and I will help as much as I can...
I love the "Easter Egg" hunt type thing for the smaller kids, that would be too cute...if nothing else..small droids like action figure types in the actual eggs and have a special one for the "golden egg" type thing too...
Ok I will stop rambling cause I am still kind of incohearant from the episode on the interstate last night...but I know we will have more ideas to toss around!! Just let me know or tell me "Hey Ang we need this done" and I will work on it or sort it out!!

Hey everyone!
Just wanted you to know that the event went over incredibly well! Not only did I get loads of verbal thanks from parents and library staff - but emails too! You can check out a few of them in our forums, in the October Costume Meeting thread. Plus all of the pictures we took are up on the site as well in the Previous Meetings section on the menu bar. Thanks again to everyone for being there (esp you Ang - man, what a trip back you all had!).

I am glad they all had fun and enjoyed it!! We did as well!!
It was nothing but a thing being stuck in traffic for that long...Honestly it could have been worse, but it wasnt.
Like I said we had a blast and were happy to go and help out!!
