Yeah, weirdos... my wife had a few problems with some of them too. Hopefully that won't be as much of a problem this year; but if so, no more Mr. Nice Fett ;)

Just curious, how are people getting there? As I might have a place to stay, providing I bring my friend extra costumes to wear. (by place to stay, I mean dorm room floor 10 minutes from the Con, which, while a bit uncomfortable, would be reeeeally convenient).

last year we drove a six pack crammed in a van, and then the six pack was crammed in the hotel room. Paying for the room, I got first dibs on a bed!
We had one practically underneath the table and another slung up by the dresser.
I dont think I would do that again.

5 months to go now...yea...I can't wait. I did the whole roomie-thing...unless you know for sure you've got a bed or enough space on the floor...then its worth it. I remember one year at SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON...I stayed with some friends...but it was a small room made for 2-people, so there were only 2 beds...but there were 4-ppl...when you are talking about all of them being 501st too. Then you have to factor their storage bins/totes and luggage in the formula...but the furniture in the room n beds eating up space too....so it turned me sleeping the bathroom hallway which led to the front door. :(

Yea, with bins, rooms get crammed quick. We will be there Wednesday to Tuesday. Have to get my kilt re-fitted too.

Liz, we may have room in our room at the Marriott. We being Sandy and me. We have one other person that will probably stay with us, and a 4th would cut down on the cost. Sandy and I are flying to Atlanta Thursday and coming back on Monday.

Okay, so my Dragon*Con situation. I should have a place to stay, not too far off. Aka the couch at my friend's place. However, we have yet another friend thinking of coming (I think there are like 5 people already crashing at Esther's... yikes) so I might recommend her to split the room with Sandy and Karen, if you guys don't mind. Or I might split the room and give Emily the couch, who knows. We're still trying to work out the sleeping situation. It's a work in progress.
Anyone driving have small bit of room in their back seat? I do have my own car, but considering this will be very soon after my 9 hour drive back from texas and the 6 hour drive to NOLA, I will be very sick of marathon driving. I don't take up much room, I think all my costumes will be cloth-based and also not take up much room, and I will bake homemade cookies (from scratch!) for the ride!
Oh, and the idea those of us staying at my friend's have been toying with, if any of the girls are interested. We really want to get a bunch together to do "Hooters: Jabba's Palace" costumes (or the alternative I've seen, "Hutters"). Basically the standard waitress's uniform with a custom printed shirt and then a pair of flesh toned lekku to top it off.

Liz,
Unfortunately, my little Corolla will be jammed floor to ceiling with stuff for the con. I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to squeeze in a couple of sixpacks for Ed. Is there anyone who would ride with you and split the driving so you could take a break? My wife and I share driving up and back and it's not too bad. Also, when Josh and DD were part of the convoy we had so much fun the trip didn't seem to take as long.

if I was able to hit D*C up this year, I'd ride with you Liz.. It's such a shame that it's so close to the start of school. As such, it's difficult to make my absolutely favorite convention ever.

At the moment, SAINTS FETT and TEMPLAR will be carpooling to D*C this year! The plan is to hit the road by 6am on Friday morning and get to D*C by 2pm. :)
But If things change, I will be driving to D*C on Friday from NOLA but I have a YARIS...so I dont have any room for any extra stuff besides mine. :(

Okay I sent out a general "Who wants to go to D*Con" facebook message, and I might have some takers to drive with me. And I might have inadvertently recruited an IO for the garrison once I explained what I was doing going to D*Con. I've told Tommy to join the forum so hopefully we'll see him here soon.

And by IO I mean ID. Will eventually learn all the abreviations. Does TD really stand for Trooper Dirty?
