Gongs are always fun to shoot at, it's a good thing you brought those Denis. it's kind of like what we do at my place but instead we got a couple cooking pans hanging up.... Still makes a nice loud ding when you hit it.
I was dinging the right side 85 yard gong one after another yesterday with that .22cal springer of mine. Those peep sites on it are excellent.. I actually prefer peeps over scopes for the type of shooting that I do..
Looking forward to May2nd. |

That springer of yours is a straight shooter for sure... 80+yards in that wind yesterday made for a bit of a challenge...
Was that the same gun you were kind enough to share with me when my main gun crapped out just before the start of a match last season?....
Peeps sights are nice, but hard to nail down those long shots where KZ's are almost invisible..LOL... _________________ Shoot Safely, Shoot Often & Share Your Sport!

Parker, the rifle I had yesterday is basically the same rifle but not the exact one.. Last year that was a Diana48 .22cal with Beeman Peeps.. Yesterday I was using my Supermax 1000 B-21 .22cal with Match Sites. It's a copy of the Diana48 but shoots a bit hotter.. It gets 815fps with a 14gr pellet.
I didn't have to use any holdover for that gong, just a bit of right compensation for the wind.. I just aimed the front post to the right edge of the gong and bingo.. hit after hit easy
Some of the killzones and targets in the shooting lanes were very difficult to see through the sites let alone hit them.. I had to look through Andrew's scope first to get a look at the target and locate the killzone so I knew what area to aim for , shooting by instinct |

RVD,
Regarding the 20 fpe discussion you are having with Don:
This is really not a big deal. Don't take is personal. We just need to set a high limit on power, and 20fpe is standard in north America, and we feel it works well. You are barely over (like 1 fpe), so possibly another pellet that still shoots well will bring you down to the limit, or some other simple modifications could get it down.
Usually this type of discussion is something the local match directors would initiate with you (Tim, Dennis or myself from Port), but I guess Don just wanted to take the opportunity to make the rule clear.
It was really nice to see you and the boys out. We all had a good time. I don't want to let something small like this deter anyone from shooting in the future. It should be an easy fix.
Take care. _________________ Canadian Airgun Field Target Association (CAFTA)

No worries Chris,I'm not going to be deterred that easy I wasn't purposely trying to bring a rifle that shot .5 ft/lb over but I think you already know that. You are right though it's an easy fix, a pellet change will fix that. I would have used a different pellet(Jsb Jeavy) but I didn't have any left over the day of the shoot.
No hard feelings at all. See you guys on the 2nd..
I appreciate the reply.
Take care |

Pete:
As a reminder for you if you are going to shoot in the Hunter Division. You won't be able to borrow your friend's rifle to spot the targets before you shoot them. You are not allowed additional sighting devices. It may be an idea to ditch the iron sights and try a scope on the rifle. Of course, if you decide to shoot in the Piston Division, you will be able to use the arrangement you had at this practice. _________________ Keyrigger
