The old woman sighs. "Could you just forgo fighting for a few moments? You don't have to prove you're of the right mentality!" she exclaims, walking back inside. "...Yes... because there's no competition... COME IN, COME IN!" Inside, is a pretty small and cramped room housing a notice-board, a cluttered desk behind which the woman takes a seat, a strange rune in a 5' circle in one corner, and a rocking chair, occupied by a very old bearded man, wearing faded wizard's robes with a black rooster on his shoulder. He launches from his seat the moment he sees you. "Ah! Welcome!" he says grinning. "Brave new souls! Such a delightfully rag-tag group... Reminds me of my youth..." his voice trails off... for about a second, after which the rooster pecks him on a bearded cheek. "Ouch! Ah, sorry! Where was I? Oh, yeah! You're here for the first time, as Lamar here tells me," he indicates the rooster, "and you'd like some briefing on your bright, bright perspectives" (the woman mutters something about malicious teleports and the sun) "as adventurers, no?" He grins at you widely.
Melian and Roscoe are standing on a largeish balcony, the floor is made up of some kind of ceramic tiles. There is a barrier, a sort of fence constructed of thin iron bars and pipes painted dark red, protecting them from accidentally falling into the grass and orchard below. Roscoe can see that the concealed entrance would have to be directly below them. Besides the door they came from, there are two more doors, also glass in a frame of wood, on the left, a bit farther ahead. There are windows beside the doors, vision into them obscured by the darkness inside and curtains hung for this exact purpose - preventing the exachange of light between outside and inside. Above them, is another balcony, much less wide, with a similiar girder barrier - about eight feet up. Above that, still, is yet another balcony, just under the roofing, a bit smaller than the one below it.
((Clear enough?))

The wizard doesn't so much as budge. The chicken, however, lands on Aliem's head. The warmage gets stared sternly at by an upside-down chicken face.

~Aliem~
The rooster peers at Aliem for a few moments, not looking the least threatened by the warmage, then lifts a claw and points somewhere behind him. When Aliem turns, he sees the wizard still on his rocking chair, still away on the Astral.

Melian catches the weapon.
Well.. This... Um.... I don't have a clue what this is. Maby we should take this back to the wizard?
Aliem
You! Chicken!! Where is that damn wizard! I demand to speak with him right now!
Aliem points his morning star to the chicken.

OOC: No....unluckily.
Roscoe taps the thing a few more times and then, first giving Melian a heads up, tosses the instrument of death to the ninja. "
Can you Figue anything out about it?
" He asked.

The wizard's balck rooster peers at Aliem, shaking his head. The familiar is apparently unimpressed with the constant near-deaths.

Roscoe finds the strange weapon suprisingly heavy, but nonetheless quite wieldable... if only he could figure out how to make it work. There are some buttons... and fiddly bits... and valves... so many adjustable pieces... It has something akin to a trigger where on is supposed to be, but who can tell if it is one?
Got UMD, Roscoe?

Maybe the Rooster just doesn't like you Melian???
the Halfling squeaks in confusion as Aliem disappears before him
I hope he askes the Rooster......oh ya...Roosters can't talk.
finished Roscoe solemly. Roscoe moves to the chicken's corpse and picks up it's deadly and odd weapon.

Roscoe fires another fiery arrow - and connects, too. Seriously wounded, the chicken fires upon an easier target... Aliem. The warmage takes a bolt of burning hot plasma straight to the chest, providing him quite enough raw pain for his journey back to the Unemployment Buereau. Melian viciously attacks with a vengeance, thus slicing the chicken in two...
End initiative. Aliem is back at the office, being drowned in healing potion.

" Oi, don't get in my way!"
Yells Roscoe, taking a 5 ft step to the left so he can shoot the bird.

It was most certainly the room to the left side of the pit that the noise was coming from. Or at least from that direction.

Hearing the sounds of battle, and narrowing avoiding a red beam that shot out of the door, Herkuhl decided to pause his looting and save his companion's asses for another day.
"Ninjas an' pirates they are!"
He muttered, trying to discern the source of the noises.

Aliem interposes himself between the chicken and the halfling, generally trying to be frightening, but the chicken has nothing of it. It continues to silently aim its large gizmo - this time at the warmage. Melian, meanwhile, concentrates on her invisibility and approaches their enemy under the guise of magic.
