Normatisavan
Let's see, what did I bring that can get me out of this... knockout gas, no, search tool for conveniently located exits, no, healing patches, yes, but that won't get me very far, tools for cutting through walls or blast doors, no, combat drugs, no, a weapon, yes, not that that helps much
Normatisavan thought as he took a quick stock of what tools he had available.
"This isn't my fight."
he said quickly in case anyone was looking for targets, and decided to wait it out as much as he could.

DUNCAN, MILD VISTAS
"Bill, be ready to leave at the moment our charge does,"
Duncan said to the
Vistas'
actual captain, intending to do what the job description said - to escort. Clearly, it would be a bad thing if the diplomat was lost to a pirate attack or the like. He trasmitted his intentions to the
Event
, not bothering to engage voice communications.
"Aye, sir, doing just that,"
acknowledged the former electronics warfare officer, and conveyed specific orders to the new helmswoman. Fortunately, with Michael to show her the ropes, there weren't likely to be any problems with flying around. At least out of combat. Duncan hoped the newbies would learn quickly, even though the mission wasn't an outwardly violent one. One never knew what lurked beyond the metaphorical horizon.

GRASHLICK, THE ECLIPSE
"I was born readier than your fleet will ever be."
Finally having received its astrogation data, the scout class Eclipse engaged its faster than light engines towards the goal system.
"See you there."

"Whenever you're ready,"
Duncan agreed. He concentrated on the comm's screen, while the new astrogator was having some trouble adjusting to unfamiliar software in the background. Fortunately, nothing exploded. Yet.
"We're ready to leave at a moments, notice. Can't speak for the Eclipse, just my own fleet, though."

Captain Lance, Thermopylae II
"Helm, set us a course to the Centauri system! We've got a pirate to hunt."
The Helm Officer quickly plotted a course, and the Thermopylae II left on her first mission. With luck, she'd last longer than her predecessor.

Erik: As you roll towards relative safety someone tosses a grenade at the coppers, who quickly dive out of the room to take cover from the blast. At the same time, you can hear various alarms going off and the blast door to this room begins to close. This doesn't deter the others in the room as they continue to blast away at the wall, the blast door and the coppers.
Anno/Confusion: The diplomat's vessel responds on an open channel, showing a small human with short hair, behind him a 3 man crew are taking care of the ship itself.
"We were waiting for our drives to charge up and the latest scans to arrive. Not that those were anything special, but command insisted we wait for them. Might I suggest that, now that you two have the introductions over, we depart as soon as possible? My name, in case you are interested, is chief diplomat Kane Cransbury, of the Terran imperial navy."
Tarinaky: It's 3 more hours before your scientists report back again. This time with the rather good news that they've managed to seize control of a part of the station's external defenses. In particular, the station's automated point defense system. It's currently set to intercept incoming asteroids and other hostile objects, but should be reprogrammable with a reasonable amount of work
Alien satellite

40 Point Defense Rockets, configured for point defense. Unknown number of reloads.
Misc mounts:
At least 8x capital ship docking facility, capable of stowing 4 battleship class vessels each.
At least 1x advanced AI interface and support systems
Cargo:
100 Alien Battle Walkers (The other 150 are aboard the Kibalchich, being retrofitted for human use)
Unknown number of alien weaponry

Lance, Thermopylae II
Captain Lance was enjoying his new ship, and was feeling a great pride in his crew--not a one decided to drop. He was currently in his personal cabin, looking at availiable jobs. He grinned as he saw one--bounty hunting. He quickly signed up for it, and began to head for the helm.

Duncan raised an eyebrow at Grashlick hanging up, then shrugged.
"Vinny, raise our employer and find out what is it that we're waiting for. I would like to know how big a fleet they're assembling."
"Sure thing, Skipper,"
acknowledged the communications officer, and proceeded to do just that.

"Naw,"
Duncan replied, wondering who 'Eris' was.
"Our computers systems are top-of-the-line, but actual decision-making stays in human hands,"
he declared with some degree of pride. As far as he was concerned, artificial intelligences were as much an asset as a liability. Duncan did not like the potential situation in which he was faced with insurbordination from
the ship itself

The stubbled mercenary offered a resigned shrug within his cabin, the image being transmitted, before he glanced off towards another screen.

"Excellent, thank you. As you can probably tell from your sensors,"
Duncan proceeded to an introduction of his own capabilities,
"I've got stealth plating on my ships, as well - though I should think that honest, point-blank range combat is my little fleet's main strength. If there's need, we can haul quite a bit of scrap and suchlikes with us, too."
The
Event
and the
Vistas
were similar designs, both biological ships, the latter sporting a huge turretted cannon, and the former a pair of high-caliber torpedo tubes.
"Say, have you got any word on our job, 'cept what we've been told about it at Station Zero?"

Duncan keyed the comm to the
Event
.
"Hey, Janine. Know anything about our comrades in arms, the Eclipse?"
So far, the ride had been smooth. The newbies seemed to be at least partially competent at their jobs, and failed to accidentally blow up either ship.
"Not more than we can see on our sensors, sir,"
she replied, shaking her head.
"Hrm. I'll be downright neighbourly, then, and call them for some chat."
Janine shrugged minimally, in response.
"See you,"
Duncan added and terminated the link. His second-in-command seemed quite a bit more relaxed and satisfied now that she had her own ship to fly in.
"Vinny!"
he called over to the communications officer.
"Get me a line to the Eclipse."
"Aye, Skipper. Link established, proceed at will."

Tarinaky: The Kibalchich and the Perovskaya are quickly stowed aboard the artificial satelite, leaving you for the most part blind as to what goes on outside the satelite. After a few more hours your troops and crew have managed to secure control of the satelite's docking facilities and its short range sensor array.
It shows that there are currently 8 vessels docked to the satelite and another 9 are in orbit around the planet. The docked ships appear to have been there for quite a while already and don't appear to be powered up.
Anno: After going through your final checklist, your ships launch and proceed to the rendevous point where you have to wait some time for the diplomat's vessel to arrive. Shortly before it does, another scout vessel arrives, it is named The Eclipse.
ILF: Your old ship is quickly scrapped and a few days later, the Thermopylae II is ready for its maiden voyage.
Confusion: You are told to meet the diplomat, and the other mercenary that signed on for the job, at a rendevous point some distance away from the station. When you arrive there, the Mild Vistas and the Event Horizon are already in position and waiting for the diplomat, which arrives a few minutes after you do.
The diplomat is flying a Corvette, equipped with a souped up deflector shield (matched pair) and a crystalline armour weave, however it is only lightly armed with a set of laser arrays. It's using a VASIMR drive for sublight propulsion.
Erik: The coppers step into the bar and reach for their firearms, yelling for someone to put his hands up. Before you have much of a chance to react, the shooting starts as someone fires at the coppers, which promptly return fire. Hot lead and particle beams are sent flying across the room in several directions.

Fleegal Grashlick and the Eclipse
The wormgate opened up, the massive energy expenditure apparently taxing today, as it was an extrmeely short burst. A single medium freighter carrying some form of urgently needed luxury goods, and the tiny ship, so rarely seen from anything like the levels of scrutiny it had just been through.
The chamaeleon stealth skin of the scout ship blended it in with the stars almost instantly, the purple skinned humanoid at its pilot seat opening a securebeam to Sation Zero.
"
Fleegal Grashlick, freelancer information specialist reporting.
" He spoke calmly, a little mechanically, though his skin crawled... He was the loner of space, he was the kind that in previous ages would have gone and colonised the asteroid belt while the rest of his race sat complacent on homeworld. Now he shot for distant stars while the bulk of the empire stayed in the Milky Way, content.
"
Roger Grashlick, we have you logged as in system.
" The voice responding was officious.
"
Requesting telemetry data, and mission advisement. Your job board isn't too informative on just how much muscle you want for any of your little endeavours. Can you mark me as available to work with any other captain's that require additional support?
" He settled into a holding pattern, somewhat out from Station Zero. He had no intention of docking until supplies were running low, and he'd just stocked up before running the gamut through the wormgate.
"
Actually scratch that, I'll take the diplomatic escort mission. Give a 30 minute window for applications to provide additional support.

Captain Lance and the Thermopylae
Captain Lance gathered the remains of his crew together in one of the few completely sealed bays of the Thermopylae. "
Welcome, crew. I have... news. I'm going to be selling off the Thermopylae for scrap, because it would just cost to much to restore her--and I've got the feeling she'll never attain her former glory again. But using the funds from the mission, and from selling my ship, I plan to purchase a new one--a Thermopylae II, one much more likely to survive in the face of this new enemy. I will pass out pay and recompense, and any of you who wish to retire or seek new jobs may. I'm not going to force you to stay on if you don't want to.

"Prep the Horizon for blast off, Janine, I've signed us up for escort duty,"
Duncan informed the captain of the
Event Horizon
, sitting in his newly-installed fleet command chair on the bridge of the Mild Vistas.
"Aye, sir,"
she nodded, and started giving orders to get her ship moving.
Duncan turned his former Electronics Warfare officer, now captain of the
Mild Vistas
.
"That goes for you, too."
"Aye, sir, already on it,"
William Skarson confirmed. He was visibly uncomfortable in command, but he was just about the best Duncan could put on the job.

ILF: Your ship soon arrives at Station Zero, leaking atmosphere from numerous holes and with only its ion thrusters to provide propulsion. A pair of tugs from Station Zero haul your ship into the repair facilities, where your crew manages to contain the most serious damage. Nonetheless, a major overhaul will be needed to make your ship spaceworthy again.
At the same time, the station officials start examining the samples you took from the hangar and your sensor information to determine their worth. Your pay, 45000 credits worth on top of the 10k for a complete system map, is soon transferred to your account.
Your chief engineer and the shipyard officials figure they can restore your ship to its former glory, at least mostly, for around 20000 credits.
Anno: For missions, check page 1. There are currently 5 missions open for applications and until that number goes down a little, there won't be any new listings.
Erik: The man pays no further attention to you and has soon found a couple of others to chat with. They seem to be argueing about something judging from the amount of gestures made. The background noise in the bar and your distance to them makes it impossible to hear exactly what they're talking about though.
After a few minutes of this, one of the men takes out a phone and the others seem to wait for him to finish his call. You also spot a pair of coppers at the entrance of the bar, apparently looking for someone.
Tarinaky: The Perovskaya quickly returns to its position near you, guarding your ship and the artifical satelite. Your troops aboard in the meantime make headway towards where the scientist think the control center might be. On their way there, however, they encounter stiff resistance from an automated security system that was apparently left online.
