Zynkal forced out a gillful of air as he realised the two young ones were heading straight towards the behemoth's vantage point - by getting within biting range. He blew a stream of bubbles in frustration and worked the spells needed to enforce his wardings, before following his foolish nephew.
OOC: Mage armour.

Selrune's shot found purchase in the shark's side, and it stuck from where it reached mipact like a tiny handle on the shark's body. Her dolphin friend right behind her, she then joined Rakkar.
DM: Zynkal's turn!

Bringing her crossbow up to her shoulder, Selrune snaps off a shot. Not looking to see whether or not she hit, she gave off a powerful kick, and shot behind Rakkar, putting him between her and the shark. Tre’sal stayed by her side.

Despite his best efforts, Rakkar managed to miss the megalodon as it swam past him. It almost seemed to mock him as its low rumbling voice made the water resonate around it.
DM: Selrune's turn!

-Rakkar-
With a solid grunt of effort, Rakkar drove the tip of his spear at the megadolon, knowing that it is best to strike early - and strike hard. He focused his mind on the matter, muscles following orders without question. Rakkar knew he would have to find a moment to concentrate if he wanted to perform another strike like the one he was in the middle of now, but that was a minor concern. All that mattered was to cause the shark much, much pain... alas, he had mistimed his strike, he knew before it even came close to his enemy.
((Expending Psionic Focus to use the Psionic Weapon feat, +2d6 damage on a hit.))
Attack: (4+6) = 10.
Damage: Get real.

-Rakkar-
Rakkar peered at the new arrival with intensity. Even though he was huge, this thing was bigger. He was going to need something more if he was going to go fin-to-fin with the great shark. Concentrating, he summoned a translucent shield of force, barely visible by the way it distorted the flow of water - and waited for the shark to come.
Manifesting: Force Screen, spending 1 PP. Lasts 3 minutes.
((Armour Class changes to 22 (including the penalty for being large), flat-footed 18, touch 13.))

As the three Sar'gaeans surged towards the descending sharks, a great rumbling noise in the water drew the sharks' attentions away from them. The sharks scattered, and something greater arrived - something that was rarely seen, even by the Sar'gaeans: a megalodon shark. It was bigger than any shark the two young siblings had ever seen, hell, it was bigger than just about any creature they'd ever seen. It circled menacingly about two-hundred feet above them, it's massive form casting more of a shadow than most of the school of sharks before its arrival had.

Zynkal had first thought the figures were escaped House Guards who would have no doubt put him back in chains, but as the young male called out... By the sands! He had only seen his oldest nephew once, when the little fry was still suspended in its transparent egg-sac. Zynkal hadn't sustained his horrific deformities back then and he had promised his worthless brother that he'd protect the young ones. How was he to know that knavish coward would bar all contact when he skinned those elves...
The young ones were in danger and no matter how much he hated the Patriarch, Zynkal knew his roles. Blood was important, even to Mother Sargaea and she would have wanted him to protect his brood. Perhaps the young ones would even come to accept him one day. Surging up the undercurrent, he swam towards the sharks.

-Rakkar-
"Yeah, I see them..."
rumbled Rakkar, hoisting his spear. Being bigger had its advantages - such as hitting a lot harder - and disadvantages - being easier to strike. Still, he could reach decently high speeds in the water, particularly when he cared to focus his mind somewhat in the morning or whenever - like he did this day.
Initiative: (15+5) = 20.

Spotting the shadows, Selrune twisted so her back faced the sea floor. Realizing what the shapes above her were, she felt a cold shiver run down her spine. Executing a flip turn, she gave a powerful kick, and shot off toward Rakkar and Tre’sal.
"Kar! Sharks!"
Reaching the dolphin, Selrune grabbed at a soft leather bag strapped to his side next to an elongated quiver that held her harpoon and trident. Finally, her frantic fingers found the flap and unfastened it. Inside was her armor, the dark blue sharkskin that she had toiled over outfitted with a myriad of surprises. Slipping on the Armor, she fits her hands into the concealed mesh of special leather straps that controlled the above-mentioned surprises.
Delving once more into the bag, she silently gave thanks that Mallindir, the houses battle master, had forced her to meticulously care for, and pack her weapons. Her crossbow was there, along with a nasty looking piece of metal. Selrune fitted the foot long bayonet onto the end of her crossbow, and twisted it to lock the blade into place. After loading a bolt and strapping the quiver of bolts to her hip, she took her place next to her brother. Tre’sal stayed close, allowing her access to her weapons.

-Rakkar-
Rakkar grunted in anger. More trouble was not what they needed right now. In all likelyhood, they would need to fight off sharks every inch of the way while searching for those yet alive. He knew he will have to protect Selrune - and Zynkal, if he was incapable of combat himself. Concetrating, Rakkar began to grow, first slowly, then gaining speed, filling out a form that was twice his original one, larger than most sharks, which might give them some pause.
Manifesting: Expansion, augmented with 2 PP to increase duration. Total cost: 3 PP.

Mestana:
Mestana suddenly awoke from what felt like a dream. The pain had been very real, and the fact that it still insisted on gnawing at her revealed that it was in fact a horrible truth. She had been on her way to her chambers, to do what she really couldn't seem to recall at the moment, when the prow of one of the Order's ships first pierced through the ceiling. She had fled down a hallway, only to be caught beneath the rubble as the structure collapsed around her. A large branch of coral, although being what was currently crushing her, had also been what saved her life as it sheltered her from further harm. She could hardly breathe, but was thankfully near the top of their household. A slight opening amidst the rubble she was underneath permitted her to see into the open water, and she saw the back of a fellow survivor as he hid behind what had once been a wall.

There was a sudden swirl of shadows above the ruined family home, and as the three Sar'gaens looked up they realized things were about to get worse. Sharks had begun to take notice of the sudden high concentration of blood and flesh in the water, and a feeding frenzy had begun, there likely being dozens of sharks circling overhead.

"Yeah, I know!"
Rakkar swivelled with his whole body to rush after their mad uncle.
"Zynkal!!"
he shouted, surging forth through the water.
"Uncle! Are you alright?"
Rakkar added after a moment, not wishing to be taken for excessively hostile.

DM: Wow, I'm absent for three days, and now that god has returned to Sundara, you'd think things could get better. WRONG! (to quote Kevin Spacey)
Rakkar and Selrune saw a fellow Sar'gaean bolt for a pile of debris that had been one of the gathering rooms. They only saw a brief glimmer of the man, but by the scars and erratic swimming pattern, it had to be their uncle Zynkal. They had never even seen the man as far as they could recall, being forbidden to even talk to him, but they had heard about his scarred and deformed appearance, and it had to be him.

Zynkal brushed aside the flailing body of a drowned sailor, sending him further into the deep. The humans and elves had no idea - weighed down by heavy boots and thick leggings, they were dead the moment they hit the water. Even more amusing were their steel-clad fighters who tried to struggle inside their iron armour. At least the fishes will be feeding well today. A swirling cloud of sand rose up around the Ubabomber and he swam right through it, feeling each individual grain strike against his scarred skin. The humans had offered him no mercy when they caught him and the mottled flecks along his chest and arms gave evidence to their cruelty. Likewise, his foolish brother left the fight until too late. They were gone now, like drops of blood in the sea. Zynkal was free to do as he pleased.
He spotted three figures circling the distance and cursed, the bubbles rising from his nostrils. Probably house guards who'd escaped the blast and no doubt cast him in chains again. Passing more water through his gills, he dived back into the receding sand cloud.

Selrune nodded silently, at a loss for words. Still scared and confused, she began swimming over what was left of her home, searching the ruined reef.

"Surfacer ships happened,"
answered Rakkar tersely.
"Three of them just happened to be fighting above us!"
he exclaimed, his rage returned now that Selrune looked like she was going to recover. He growled, sending low vibrations through the water.
"We've got to find the others. Someone beside us might have survived."

Selrunes eyes flicked open, and she stared at her brother.
“Oh…”
Other than a few scratches on her forehead above her pearl tattoo Selrune appeared all right, despite being in some state of shock. Slowly letting go of Tre’sal, she tore her gaze away from her brother, to stare at the remains of her home.
“What happened?”
